I am going to be a senior and have already completed my required Social Studies credits or a Junior who has already taken health?
The computer will require you to select a course since most students will need to take the course(s).  However, you do not need to choose a course.  Instead, click the box called Graduation Requirement Already Satisfied.  This will remove the requirement that you select a Social Studies/Health class and will prompt your counselor to follow-up with you to ensure your intentions are understood.

Do I have to fill out special paperwork to take Senior-Athlete Performance/Leadership or Next Level Competitor/Dance Perform?
Yes, you will but you do not need to do so at this time.  If you meet the criteria for the courses and intend to sign up for them, you can select them at this time as your PE course.  The PE department will be in contact with you later in the spring to complete the paperwork.

What does it mean that Latin requires a deposit?
The Latin courses are taught online from non Manheim Township instructors, and therefore the district must pay tuition to another school for students to take the course.   The district wants students to participate in the courses, but wants to ensure students recognize the extra expenses involving in providing the program.    The deposit ($250) which is only a fraction of the total tuition will be refunded so long as the student successfully completes the course.  If the student drops or fails the course, the district will keep the deposit to defray the cost of the course.   Any student who registers for Latin will be notified in the spring as to the details of the deposit program.

I want to play sports in college, what courses should I be selecting?
The NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) requires college athletes to complete a college preparatory program while in high school.   The NCAA provides a website called the NCAA Eligibility Center (commonly known at the Clearinghouse).   This site has all th e necessary information regarding what courses students should be taking while in high school.  In general, students should be taking as many courses as possible at the college preparatory level.   If you have questions talk with your counselor.

I have already failed a class or I expect to fail a class, should I schedule it again for next year?
While you will likely have to take the failed course again next year, you should not schedule it at this time.  Your counselor will add your failed classes to your schedule in the spring or summer after you choose whether or not to attend summer school to recover the failed credits.

How do I register if I don’t have a Community Portal Account?
You really should have an account so you can keep track of your own grades so the best option is for you to go to the writing center and sign up for one.  If you never get an account, your counselor will contact you in April to complete the process on paper.  This may result in you losing some of your first choices for courses so please make every attempt to use the online system.

Can I make partial selections and return at a later time to complete the registration?
Probably not.  When you save your selections you must have the minimum number of credits selected, so if you don’t check enough boxes, the portal will likely not let you save.  It’s best to enter all the information at once and remember that you can go back in and modify your selections and save them  up until the April 1st deadline.
