Assignment one:  Go on to Google, and find an interesting fact about the novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn or about the author, Mark Twain (specifically when it comes to the novel).  Has this novel been in the news recently?  What was the writing process like for Mark Twain when he wrote the novel?  Did Mark Twain own slaves?  Experiment with keywords to do your search, and think creatively so posts do not repeat.  Post the URL to your blog, and summarize the interesting fact about the novel or Mark Twain in a few sentences.

Assignment two: Satire is the use of humor to criticize people’s stupidity or vices.  Give an example of how this novel is a satire.  Use a passage to back up your response.

Assignment three: Find one passage from anywhere in the novel and ask a discussion question about it.

B) Choose a passage that represents that theme.  C)  Explain what this passage reveals about the character and/or situation.

3) Choose three passages that you feel are discussion worthy.  A)  Copy the passage and then B) describe the significance of these passages.

Example:  “Passage 1″ & page # –> Describe its significance.

“Passage 2″ & page # –> Describe its significance.

“Passage 3″ & page # –> Describe its significance.

4)  Ask two discussion questions about what you have read.  A discussion question is analytical—there isn’t always a right or wrong answer.  Think of questions that encourage your group members to think!  Your group members will respond to your questions in your comment box.
