Huck’s Prospective

1. I can’t believe that i am all the way down south. I’ve gone so far for being just a 13 year old kid. My experience with lying about being murder was a great plan. Jim says Tom sawyer couldn’t have a better plan. I’m proud that I made it all the way here, but King and the Duke are starting to get on my nerves. They pretended they were a circus act and dressed up naked. I was very disturbed and scarred for what I saw. When i was with buck, though, that was a lot of fun. We were really becoming friends. it’s too bad he died. we were really becoming good friends. Jim has been a really good father figure to me. I am really enjoying the time i spend with him, though i am getting scared of him being a runaway slave and all.

2. “I see how maybe I could get me and Jim rid of the frauds; get them jailed here.”
A) do think is a good idea? if they fail could it backfire?

Assignment number 1. I searched “what was mark twain’s childhood like?” I wanted to find out how Mark Twain’s childhood compared to Huck’s. In this blog, it says that Mark as a child would roam around with his little friends. he had a crew of friends and did very similar things that Huck would do. My thought is that Huck was based off of some activities that Mark Twain did. http://www.shmoop.com/mark-twain/childhood.html

Assignment number 2. A satire in Huck Finn would be that the whole Romeo and Juliet Part.A quote that is an example of this is “‘what was the trouble about, Buck? – Land?’ ‘I reckon maybe-i don’t know’” (111) this is an example of satire because the two are fighting about something they don’t understand.

Assignment number 3. “Next sunday we all went to church, about three mile, everybody on horseback. The men took their guns and so did buck.” (112) How used to the feud do you think the family is?

1) in the book we have been reading, hick finn, there were many themes. One theme is the use of superstition. A passage that represents this theme is “Jim put the quarter under the hairball and got down and listened again.” (19) this passage shows just how superstitious Jim is. Jim was reading the future in a hairball. Jim has many more encounters with superstition.

2) In the story, Huck hangs around Tom Sawyer a lot and is very influenced by him. An example shown in the book is when Huck disigned a plan to leave. Huck then felt high and mighty. He found out that he had maybe done better then Tom  A passage that shows this is “He(Tom) said, some of it, but the rest was out if pirates books, and robber books, and every gang that was high toned had it.” This shows Tom leading all the boys. Huck follows Tom because of his leader figure. Huck wants to be like Tom cause Tom does everything Huck admires and he does it well.

3) “‘ Jim this is nice,’ I says. ” I wouldn’t want to be nowhere else but here.” (51) This passage is a discussion topic is that its really explains that Huck is actually having fun running away from everybody. he doesn’t discriminate Jim through his ethnicity. This is a good turning point for Huck cause he was misarable and now he seems to be happy again.

4) a) what would you have done with the situation of leaving the cabin tha Huck was trapped in? would you have done the same and live in the forest? or would you run back into town?

b) how would you react to the dead body in the flooded house?
